Equality & Diversity

University of Rostock and Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW) are equal opportunity employers. Within Baltic TRANSCOAST we are looking for PhD students from around the world. Baltic TRANSCOAST benefits from gender equality programmes already existing at the University of Rostock (certified as 'Familienfreundliche Hochschule') and the IOW ('Total E-Quality' certification). In addition, a specific Baltic TRANSCOAST support scheme is established:

Gender equality

Female participants of Baltic TRANSCOAST will benefit from

  • Special workshops organized in cooperation with the equal opportunity commissioner and the Graduate Academy of Rostock University on topics such as coaching, presentation and communication skills, third-party funding, career planning

Support for families

Baltic TRANSCOAST will promote the compatibility of work and family for both women and men. Measures include

  • Support or stand-in for PhD candidates during pregnancy or parental leave to ensure continuity of long-term measurements and experiments
  • Special child care support for evening and weekend events (Baltic TRANSCOAST workshops, sampling campaigns)
  • Travel funds for an accompanying person for nursing mothers
