Baltic TRANSCOAST is a collaborative effort of 14 scientists of the University of Rostock and the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research who are organized jointly in the Department Maritime Systems of the Interdisciplinary Faculty of the University of Rostock. Each of these 14 scientists brings in specific expertise that is essential for the addressed PhD topics.

Baltic TRANSCOAST is supported by 7 associated researchers, who provide excellence and competence to specific aspects of the planned research and  strengthen the international collaboration. Several renowned researchers will come to Rostock for longer research stays as Mercator fellows (currently 6) and will share their expertise with us.

The 1st cohort of PhD students in Baltic TRANSCOAST started on January 1st, 2016 (1. Cohort: 2016-2018). The 2nd cohort of PhD students started on January 1st, 2019 (2. cohort 2019-2021). The PhD Students (currently 13) and associated PhD students (currently 10) are carrying out joint research for Baltic TRANSCOAST. 

Baltic TRANSCOAST is supported by one project coordinator, who coordinates the whole project.
